Please see below details of our free forthcoming online MSK Zoom sessions for coming months to which you and your colleagues are welcome to attend as part of our Autumn education series. 

Our sessions are tailored and suitable for GPs, Physiotherapists, Physician Associates and other healthcare professionals with an MSK/ Orthopaedic interest. 

Please note that all of the sessions below will start at 7pm- finishing between 8.15pm - 8.30pm and are via zoom: 

 
Thursday 21st September
Scoliosis and paediatric spinal deformities: What is scoliosis, when to refer and is it harmful?", with Mr Morgan Jones. 

Topics will include: 

  • What is Scoliosis 
  • When to refer
  • Is it harmful?


Thursday 28th September. 
"Shoulders: When anatomy goes bad- how to understand pathology on a shoulder MRI", with Mr Marcus Green. 

Topics will include: 

  • MRI of a shoulder both a normal scan and the various pathologies seen it 
  • How to interpret an MRI report 

Delegates should leave with a better knowledge of how to assess a shoulder MRI scan & understand a shoulder report. 


Monday 9th October. 
"Hip pain, conditions and management: an Autumn update to include case studies" with Mr Ronan Treacy.

Topics will include:

  • Impact on Elective Orthopaedics
  • Changes to the THR pathway
  • Anatomy and Hip Pathology 
  • Commonest Hip Conditions, Referred Pain, Pain patterns, Osteoarthritis, injections
  • Advances in Revision Surgery, Robotic Surgery, What’s changing in Hip Surgery


Thursday 26th October
"Acquired pathologies of the adult knee (arthritis excluded!)" with Professor Martyn Snow. 

Topics will include: 

  • The causes of a painful knee/ red flags 
  • Diagnostic tests/ investigations 
  • What are the treatment options in Primary Care & when to refer


Wednesday 23rd November:
"Knees: Breaking the Myths" with Mr Faisal (Fraz) Hussain. 

Topics will include: 

  • Management advice for knee arthritis. 
  • Indications for referral to secondary care.
  • Misconceptions associated with knee replacements (objectives and outcomes)
  • New technology with knee arthroplasty. (Robots and new prosthesis)
  • Day case arthroplasty surgery. 
  • Knee injectables indications and the evidence. (PRP, HA, Arthrosamine)
  • Cartilage repair surgery. (ACI, Stem cells)
  • Osteotomy and It's role in the treatment of OA in young patients. 


Wednesday 6th December 
"The Long head of biceps: a source of shoulder pain" with Mr Samir Massoud. 

Topics will include: 

  • Anatomy 
  • Functional anatomy 
  • Pathology
  • Diagnosis
  • Management
